This is a tourist destination which protects more than half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. On top of gorilla trekking tours in Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park there are a wide of variety of other hikes and activities that are offered. The park headquarters at Kinigi form the spring board for gorilla trekking and other activities in Volcanoes National Park. You can access this destination through Kigali and Gisenyi to Ruhengeri from where the road to Kinigi is signposted to the left of the main Cyanika road.
Among other activities you can enjoy in the Volcanoes National Park include the hike to the Dian Fossey and from here you will experience all the conservation work that this primatologist did towards the conservation of the mountain gorillas in the mist. You can also experience the hike of the 1 day and 2 day mountains (Bisoke and Karisimbi) respectively.
Apart from gorilla trekking safaris in the Volcano National Park there is also the endangered golden monkey which are also much visited by travelers in Rwanda and this can be done with the visit to the Iby’wacu cultural village to experience the Rwanda cultural performances and this place is an Eco-tourism area that is collecting all the once gorilla hunters and now Eco warriors.
Day one will be for your arrival in Kigali town and you will be welcomed by our guide and company representative share greetings and directed up to Sabyinyo Silver Back Lodge or 5 Volcanoes Hotel for some resting. Day two early in the morning after breakfast you will start your journey from Kigali town to volcanoes national park via Ruhengeri and then up to Kinigi where park headquarters are located.
Day three early in the morning you will go for some briefing about the gorilla trekking rules, dos and don’ts and park rules by the park officials and after you will enter the jungle for the trekking activity and after discovering them you will be allowed to stay around them for one hour while enjoying their plays, way of conduct, taking photos and more. After you will head back to the park offices for gorilla trekking certificate awarding. Also on top of gorilla trekking you will also have a visit to habituated troop of rare golden monkeys.
After your gorilla trekking activity in Volcanoes National Park you can head to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi and you can enjoy the extra activities at the Lake like the Kayaking and thereafter transfer back to Kigali town from for your return journey back to your home country with a great experience and wide photo gallery.
